Many Oglala believe that Al Weasel Bear was born to be a singer; as legend tells it, he came out of the womb singing Lakota songs. The songs that he performed were used to heal people’s spirits in times of need, and to accompany the seven sacred ceremonies and Peyote ceremonies.
